About Captain Garth Rademeyer

Captain Rademeyer started his career with SAPS on 18 July 1974 and was based at Gelvandale SAPS at the Gang Violence Unit for 27 years. He was then transferred in 2001 until 2006 to the Crime Prevention Unit at Mount Road and was responsible for the prevention of crime in the area.

In 2006 Captain Rademeyer was transferred to Humewood SAPS as commander of the Humewood Trio Crimes Unit. The Trio Crimes Unit is responsible for the combatting of the 4 major crimes which include: house and business robberies, ATM bombings, cash in transit robberies and highjackings. The unit also continuously follow up on information on possible threats and suspects.

Under his command, the Humewood SAPS Trio Crimes Unit was named the Provincial and National Unit of the Year. Housebreakings and robberies also showed a dramatic decrease in the Humewood SAPS policing area while under Captain Rademeyer’s command. He was also solely responsible for the tracking down and arrest of some of the province's most wanted criminals.

Captain Rademeyer received the highest honour in 2016 by being named Provincial Reservist of the Year and later received the National Award for Reservist of the Year from National Office at a Banquet in Johannesburg.
